This is a long walk that starts with a long flat stretch between Bath and Dundas Aqueduct and then heads up onto the Bath Skyline walk for about 2/3rd of the Bath Skyline (the parts with the best views of Bath!).
The walk takes in the two canal locks at Widcome and then passes through a great tunnel and bridges around Sydney Gardens. The route then meanders along the kennet and Avon Canal for 8.5 km. This is a lovely walk in itself and allows you to watch the live on the canal as well as watching the wonderful views of the valleys.
At Dundas Aqueduct it is worth taking a short detour to the Angelfish Cafe for some refreshments or lunch. Then comes a sharp short uphill section to the Bath skyline walk. Worth taking your time on this hill as the views open up down towards Bradford on Avon and it gives you a great excuse to stop and catch your breath.
Once up at Combe down you join the well signposted Bath Skyline walk through some wonderful woodland and to the views of Bath section of the walk.
Then it is all downhill back to Widcome – with many stops on the way to enjoy the views of the wonderful city.
