This is a great walk to see the view from Brown’s Folly (often called the Pepper Pot locally). The walk can be done in reverse if you want to get the heart pumping from the start but is a lot more forgiving if you gain height gradually via Warleigh and Monkton Fairleigh first.
When leaving Bathford please be very careful when crossing the A363. This is a fast and busy road and you must keep a close eye on the traffic coming up the hill. The walk then takes you along a small country lane until you get opposite Warleigh Weir then heads up the hill, under the A363 and up onto the flat area around Monkton Fairleigh.
Head past the King’s Arms at Monkton Farleigh (or pop in for a quick drink and some amazing food) and then head across fields back toward the Brown’s Folly Nature Reserve.
Finally, either head towards the tower and then directly down the hill or keep turning left on the path until you come out at the fields about Bathford and back to the church you passed at the start of the walk.
The final detour takes you along Church street where you can admire some of the old Cotswold houses.
View down into Bathford at the end of the walk Kings Arms – Monkton Fairleigh View to Salisbury Plain
Another great walk. Easy to follow your instructions and love the link to the map. Thank you.
